Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6303, an unidentified GM-EMD locomotive, and #6308. #6303 and #6308 are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They've just passed under Signal Bridge 2417/6 while serving as tail-end pushers on a TrucTrain rounding the Curve on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignment.
