PRR 9841, EFP-15, 1955 |
Description: |
Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken at the Brick Yard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9841 and two more "EF" Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9841 is an EFP-15 built in May of 1952. In this context, this A-B-A set of locomotives is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. ("Tchowee"; #29 of 39) |

PRR 9841, EFP-15, 1956 |
Description: |
Elmira. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John Dziobko, Jr., that was taken at NEWBERRY Tower in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on 19 August 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9841 and four more units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9841 is an EFP-15 built in May of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. Looks to me like three "EF" Class units have "rescued" a seven-car passenger train with its two disabled "EP" Class units. ("Stoneborobranch"; #32 of 34) |
