Built by Badlwin in March of 1904 as a compound 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomtive, it was eventually rebuilt and simplified in in April, 1917 at the Los Angeles Shops. After a total of 52 years of service, the loco was sold for scrap to the Merchants Steel & Supply Company on June 6, 1956. No date was given for the photo so an approximate one was used. August A. Dragging a wooden caboose behind it is the 1904 Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) built 2-10-2 in the Kansas City, Kansas, yard. It lasted in service until being sold for scrap to Merchants Steel & Supply Comapny on 6/6/1956. Original specs - serial #23978, class 900, 57" drivers, 225 psi boiler pressure, 19x32" high pressure cylinders, 32x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 287,240 lb, tractive effort of 57,314 lb., rebuilt to simple in 1917 at Los Angeles with 28X32 cylinders.
