UP 706 |
Description: |
Shortly after sunrise on June 26th, 1982, a pair of Union Pacific GP30s were found in the railroads Roper Yard in Salt Lake City, Utah. Both UP 703 and UP 706 were built by EMD in February 1963. Number 703 was retired in March 1984 and sold for scrap in late 1985. Number 706 was retired in January 1987 and sold to National Railway Equipment a year later. NRE in turn sold it to the Soo Line in August 1988, and it was stored at SOOs Shoreham Yard in Minneapolis, MN, until it was eventually sold back to NRE in late 1992. |
