Description: |
Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2221, #2431, and #2262. #2221 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2431 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2262 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in May of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They've come down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a merchandise freight train and are passing under the 12th Street Footbridge on their way to the Enola Yards. This train seems to have two "sections": the first has 37 cars and N-8 cabin car #478086, while the second (not pictured herein) has 35 cars and cabin #477746. (#14 of 21) |
