Altoona Action. Here is an original 35mm color slide via Gerald H. Landau that was taken at the Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during June of 1970. Shown here (R to L) are Penn Central engine #7219 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #7219 is a GP9 built in November of 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. Slide Mount Annotation: "Train #50 arriving 90 minutes late in Altoona." What a sorry sight ... the train's using an E7B that was built in the late 1940's ... the nose of the E8A has lost most of its paint ... even the "Geep" has only one working headlight ... gone are the grand old days!
