WATC Ivy City Yard, c. 1953
Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Prominent here are several diesel-electric locomotives belonging to the Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac Railroad; among them are (L to R) engines #1011 and #1010. Both are E-8's built by GM-EMD in August of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. Visible at the left is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 locomotive; beyond it is the soon-to-be-obsolete Coaling Station.
