| Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Prominent here are several diesel-electric locomotives belonging to the Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac Railroad; among them are (L to R) engines #1011 and #1010. Both are E-8's built by GM-EMD in August of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. Visible at the left is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 locomotive; beyond it is the soon-to-be-obsolete Coaling Station. |
