PRR 5528, T-1, 1946
Mann. Here is a photo by John Crosby that was taken in Englewood, Illinois, on 4 April 1946 at 4:15 C.S.T. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5528, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during 1945 and retired in December of 1953 after just eight years of revenue service. In this context, it's pulling Train #79 ~ the westbound "Golden Arrow" ~ on the last leg of its 908-mile journey from New York City to Chicago. (Gift from Brad Mann.)
