Bayou Rail Service 25-ton General Electric switcher number 3 was at the company’s facility in Holden, Louisiana, along the Illinois Central Gulf’s HAMMOND DISTRICT between Hammond and Baton Rouge. The 150-horsepower locomotive was GE serial number 32631 and had been built as New Orleans Public Grain Elevator 2 in May 1956. It had spent its entire life in southeast Louisiana, going to the Southdown Land Co. at Houma and then to Intracoastal Tubular at Amelia before being bought by Bayou. |
