PRR 6987, M-1, 1955
MDiv. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Mill Creek, Pennsylvania, on 23 July 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6987, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Lima Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in March of 1956 after 30 years of faithful service. In this context, it's rockin' 'n' rollin' with a mixed-cargo freight train bound for the Enola Yards. ("Stoneborobranch"; #10 of 56)
