| This GE U34CH unit, NJT $173, had an interesting history starting with the joint venture between Erie Lackawanna and New Jersey Department of Transportation in the early 1970's. The units were then passed on to Conrail in the late 1970's and eventually into the controlling hands of New Jersey Transit. From 1990-96, the 33 units were sold, loaned, or scrapped unitl all were off the roster by 1996. Unknown photographer. |
