New Orleans Public Belt DS-4-4-660 number 49 was switching a wharf along the Mississippi River near the Louisville & Nashville station. The locomotive had been built as Baldwin serial no. 73897 in January 1949 at a cost of $73,950 and was the third of three units built for the NOPB that month. It was retired in 1971, traded in to EMD and was scrapped by a contractor in New Orleans. (approximate date) |
