Hagerstown. Here is the first of two successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Bill Clynes that were taken in Hagerstown, Maryland on 2 September 1955. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3639, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during April of 1916 and retired in May of 1956 after 40 years of faithful service. It is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train through the Hagerstown Passenger Station. |
