| WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took while riding in a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train from Harrisburg to Altoona during August of 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #6038 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by EMD. #6038 is an EF-25A built in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are parked just east of the 4th Street Bridge, and their crew awaits orders to proceed up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West with an iron-ore train. Partially visible a couple of tracks over are three ALCo locomotives pushing a westbound freight train out of the Yard. |
