This is literally an ice box. Workers added ice by lifting the lid on the left. Food could be stored by opening the door on the right. The little spigot on the bottom was for ice water as the ice melted. I supplied a number of these cabs with ice and fuel for the stove when I worked the cab supply job for SCL. |
