NYC 2-6-6-2 #1936 - New York Central  Contributor's Pick!       
The andle of this photo by engineer C.W. Burns compresses the massive size of this 1917 Alco-Schenectady 2-6-6-2 "Mallet Mogul" as it sits in the Minerva yard. It's original number was 1358 but renumbered in 1936. Specifics - class NE-2d, 57" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 21.5x32" high pressur cylinders, 34x32" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 363,800 lb, tractive effort of 63,029 lb. The actual day in 1939 is approximate as none was given, only the year.
