EL RS3 1047
Erie Lackawanna Railroad RS3 1047 at Pullman Junction on the south side of Chicago, Illinois on April 20, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in April 1951 (c/n 78577) as DL&W 909, it became EL 1047 (class MFSA-16D-4) after the 1960 merger, CR 5263 after the 1976 merger, and was rebuilt to DeWitt Geep 9994 during July 1978. As far as I can tell, the trailing S1 number 307 was not equipped for MU operation, so one assumes it had either failed on the road or was being delivered by the 1047 to some location where it was needed.
