ITC 471 - Illinois Terminal System Interurban  Contributor's Pick!
From the destination board, this interurban car is on its way to St. Louis. Definitely a more modern, steel riveted body with rectangular windows rather than the arched variety on the older wooden cars. Date on back is listed as "1935".

Chuck Zeiler General Gary, thanks for the photo. These cars (ITC 470-473) were built by Saint Louis Car Co., completed August 25, 1923. They were delivered to East St. Louis & Suburban Ry Co. (IL) as numbers 70-73. They were near duplicates of the Pacific Electric Hollywood cars 600-649 (03/23/1922) and 650-699 (06/19/1923). The Illinois Terminal bought them in January 1935, renumbered them February 14, 1935, and assigned them to bridge service (St. Louis - Granite City). Differences in height, couplers, and gearing precluded them from use with any other cars, although they MU'd with each other. 12/18/2012 12:00:10 PM
