WATC Ivy City Yard, c. 1953         
Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Among the six diesel-electric locomotives pictured here are (R to L) Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac Railroad engines #1010 and #1011. Both are E8A's built by GM-EMD in August of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. Visible in the left background is the soon-to-be-obsolete Coaling Tipple.
