SSW SW1200 2290
SSW SW1200 2290 at Eola, Illinois on February 13, 1966, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in February 1966 (c/n 31571) on EMD Order 7867, it was to be delivered as #1075 but a systemwide renumbering resulted in this road number. This EMD Order was for five SW1200's (#'s 2289-2293), with 2289 and 2290 delivered as per SP specs with the 'Frog Eye' light package, 930 gallon extended fuel tank, hood mounted numberboards and 15" Cotton Belt lettering, but because of visibility problems, the following order was delivered with a SW1500 style light arrangement with all the lights side-by-side above the front radiator grill. It is seen here at Eola in a CB&Q freight en route from EMD to the SSW.
