William H. Davis Jr. General Yes, that's how BNSF has been running the coal trains on the Birmingham Sub. I didn't notice exactly when it started, but I know they've been doing this ever since I took my vacation in August of this year. 2 up front & 3 on the rear. I'd say the handling is probably better with less powered axles up front & more pushing instead. When you have too many powered axles up front the knuckles & Drawheads are more likely to break. 12/14/2008 3:16:47 PM
