CB&Q VO-1000 9370
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad VO-1000 9370 at Clyde, Illinois on April 20, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built by Baldwin November, 1944 (c/n 70311) it was traded for new power to GE in March 1967. It was sold by GE to the Atlantic Coast Line (later, Seaboard Coast Line) and worked in CB&Q paint and number for the SCL until retired in 1968. It was one of 30 Baldwin VO-1000's allotted to the CB&Q during World War II, when the War Production Board took over the manufacture of railroad equipment and rationed out locomotives and rolling stock based on perceived need. The CB&Q would have preferred EMD switchers.
