Tom Beckett	General	I rode these in regular service when I was in high school. They were standard equipment on the J and K trains, as well as the CC. They also were "surge cars" on the E and F, mostly the E train, in Queens. Some of them were R3A's dating to 1936, almost 40 years old when I started high school in 1973. Interestingly, they had better availability and reliability than the 1972 built R 44's. I miss riding these cars.
