PRR 4339, EFP-15, 1966
Title:  PRR 4339, EFP-15, 1966
Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Toledo, Ohio, during September of 1966. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4339 and #1454. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #4339 was built as EFP-15 number "9839" in April of 1952 and renumbered "4339" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #1454 was constructed as EF-15 number "9667" in March of 1949 and renumbered "1454" for the merger. In my opinion, #4339 has become a sad example of the PRR's policy of "deferred maintenance." ("Stoneborobranch"; #3 of 10)
