My only time I witnessed an old Algers, Winslow & Western SD9 pulling a train, now going to park the engine! Taken at the Indiana Eastern Railroad yard, July 25, 2019. I also saw AWW SD9 #205 stored on an overgrown track and not being used there. Indiana Eastern got a high hood GP38-2 that was being prepped for paint at this time! They started using it later in 2019. I do not know if AWW SD9 #206 is being used. A worker said it was going to be back up power to the GP38-2! However, recently (March 2020) sister railroad Squaw Creek Southern scrapped the other two AWW SD9s (there were 4 total)! Glad I got two on this trip. Photo taken with permission. Description:
I'm not sure of the purpose of the train. My guess is to oil curves on this Zephyr line between Chicago and the Twin Cities, but that's a lot o oil! EPA would probably go balistic.

CB&Q SD9 333
Description:
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad SD9 333 and 326 at Palmer Lake, Colorado on July 30, 1960, photographer unknown, print by Tom Klinger, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 333 was built in March 1954 ( c/n 18992 ) on EMD Order 5313. It became BN 6135, and later, BNSF 6135. The CB&Q acquired a total of 80 SD9's built on four orders ( Order 5313 for 20 units numbered 325-344, Order 5399 for 30 units numbered 345-374, Order 5547 for 10 units numbered 430-439, and Order 5549 for 20 units numbered 440-459 ). In addition, subsidiary Colorado & Southern acquired 23 SD9's on two orders. I can only guess this was a extra train, likely a Boy Scout Special.

This locomotive was built in October 1957 ( c/n 23617 ) on EMD Order 5547. It became BN 6185, and later, BNSF 6177. The CB&Q acquired a total of 80 SD9's built on four orders ( Order 5313 for 20 units numbered 325-344, Order 5399 for 30 units numbered 345-374, Order 5547 for 10 units numbered 430-439, and Order 5549 for 20 units numbered 440-459 ). In addition, subsidiary Colorado & Southern acquired 23 SD9's on two orders. This particular locomotive was built with a single fuel tank, as were all the SD9's in the 400 series, making it a freight-only unit.
