Description:
The Chicago and Western Indiana Railroad was the owner of Dearborn Station in Chicago and the trackage leading to it. It was owned equally by five of the railroads using it to reach the terminal, and kept those companies from needing their own lines into the city.

C&WI RS1 256
Description:
Chicago & Western Indiana Railroad RS1 256 at about 47th Street in Chicago, Illinois on May 9, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 256 was built by Alco in November 1949 (c/n 77174), later becoming Genesee & Wyoming 43 sometime after Dearborn Station closed in 1971. The C&WI was the owner of Dearborn Street Station in Chicago and provided switching service for the tenants (Monon, Wabash, Erie and AT&SF).
