Title:  "Keep Hoppers Moving," Page 1, 1956
Description:  Here is page one of a three-page article entitled "Urgent Job For PRR Men: 'Keep Hoppers Moving.'" It was published originally in the May 1956 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 1. Lower Photo Caption: "Steam power comes out of storage to aid PRR's diesels in the current 'big push' of coal and ore hopper trains." Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6787, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Lima Locomotive Works as an M-1A during April of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in September of 1946, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of service. The road numbers of the A-B-A set of ALCo diesels in the upper photo are not recorded.

Description:  Price. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Duncannon, Pennsylvania, on 10 October 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6715 and #6787. Both are Class M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" steam locomotives. #6715 was constructed by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during April of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B by 1953, and retired in September of 1959. #6787 was built by the Lima Locomotive Works as an M-1A during April of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in September of 1946, and retired in September of 1959. In this context, they're passing under Signal Bridge #1160 with a train of empty hoppers bound for Altoona and the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania.
