Description:  Elmira. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Sodus Point, New York, on 1 July 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4231 and #4268. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4231 was constructed as an I-1S during June of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1943, and retired in October of 1959. #4268 was built as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959. Note the weather vane atop the sanding tower. (Not from "Stoneborobranch")

Description:  #4616 & #4243. Here is a duplicate 35mm slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken near Shamokin, Pennsylvania, on 14 September 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3445 and #4268. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods." #3445 was built in Juniata as an I-1S during January of 1919, rebuilt as an I-1SA in January of 1947, and retired in November of 1958. #4268 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S in July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959. They're pushing a 9,000-ton iron-ore train as it approaches the 1.3% upgrade near Shamokin. Also note that the helpers are ahead of PRR N-5 cabin car #477006! This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-35).
