PRR 9844, EFP-15, 1965 |
Description: |
Mann. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Jeffersonville, Indiana, on 19 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9844 and #9826. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9844 is an EFP-15 constructed in May of 1952, while #9826 is an EF-15A built in June of 1951. In this context, they're just idling-away on a lazy Saturday afternoon. ("PrrFan18n") |

PRR 9826, EF-15A, 1965 |
Description: |
Rainy. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9826, #9788, #7122, and #7143. All were built by EMD. #9826 and #9788 are EF-15A's built in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #7122 and #7143 are EFS-17M's built in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train under the 24th Street Bridge, and are about to surmount the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve. Bringing-up the rear are "helpers" #6307 and #6501. |
