Album Info:When there are ex-BNSF B40-8s bound for scrap in tow on a train, one of which is 1 of 2 left remaining in the Bluebonnet Scheme, you go see them. As was the case on today's M332 out of Indy. CSX has been making quite a few LTEX Scrap Moves on the Indy Line over the past few weeks, and I finally had a day off on a day they were moving some really good and rare power. I was able to nab that along with some other action. Enjoy!

RJC 1832
Title:  RJC 1832
Description:  Some really rare birds were being moved to LTE on the Indy Line today. A pair of ex-BNSF B40-8s that had been sitting in storage for several years down in Texas were finally sold off and heading to their final resting place in Lordstown, OH. CSX has recently been making several of these funeral moves on CSX M332, and todays including a H1 Dash 8, and a Bluebonnet Dash 8, 1 of 2 left in existence. I had the day off, so I knew I had to go down and see them before they were gone forever. I decided to go over to Ohio since I find the Indy Line more photogenic over there, especially since it still has Conrail and NYC era trilight signals still standing. As I came into Union City I could hear the Corman working on their frequency. I almost didnt go further east, but I am glad I did, as when I came into Ansonia I found them beginning to take off back south toward Greenville with around 30 cars. I quickly got out ahead of them and grabbed a shot just south of Ansonia after taking a slight turn directly south.

Description:  I had more time to kill before M332 showed, and I couldnt just pass up seeing the Corman street running in Greenville! Another bucket list shot knocked off. If only it could have stayed sunny!

UP 6504
Title:  UP 6504
Description:  There was some westbound traffic to be cleared before M332 could come east as Main 1 was being occupied for a work train laying ties. I131 and M363 were both back to back. I first grabbed I131 ripping through the signals at QI 193 in the tiny community of Elroy. Was doing every bit of 60!

CSX 378
Title:  CSX 378
Description:  CSX M332 had pulled up to the CP 189 signals right as M363 was rushing through town, and as soon as M363 passed, they got the light to cross over from Track 1 to Track 2 and continue east. I grabbed the train splitting the NYC Trilights. Sure enough, both B40s were in the consist!

BNSF 597
Title:  BNSF 597
Description:  Far, far away from home... the engines I came down for trail on CSX M332. A good portion of the standard cab B40-8s never made it out of the H1 scheme. Its a shame to see them go.

BNSF 577
Title:  BNSF 577
Description:  Ultimately this was the unit I came out for. Only 1 of 2 of the Bluebonnet B40-8s remain. This was the first of the two. The second one was also included in the train that came into Saint Louis from BNSF, but it was bad ordered at Indy and not added to this train.

CSX 2748
Title:  CSX 2748
Description:  CSX L428 asked for permission out onto the main right behind M332, and sure enough right after M332 cleared the block, L428 got a light out with a pair of CSX EMDs (both facing the wrong direction). I shot it with the trilight guarding the RJ Corman connection.

CSX 2020
Title:  CSX 2020
Description:  CSX L436 had to meet M332 and L428 at Versailles before crossing over and coming back west toward Ansonia, so I decided to move over to Dawn to grab the train passing the grain elevator there. This time, the lead EMD was facing the right direction! After this I closed my couple hours on the Indy Line. Six trains in just under 2 hours. Not something that happens around here anymore.

CSX 5251
Title:  CSX 5251
Description:  And as a bonus.... Sunday morning I found out the other Bluebonnet was coming on M332, along with 3 other H1s. Raced down to Union City after church and grabbed M332 again, this time with snow on the ground!

BNSF 584
Title:  BNSF 584
Description:  Then last but not least, BNSF 584, one of two B40-8s in Bluebonnet paint left in the world. Extremely sad to see these classic GEs go, but Im glad I took the time to get photos of the ones I could, especially the ATSF painted ones. There apparently is 1 or 2 H1 B40-8s left to come, but those dont intrigue me as much as the Bluebonnets. While I might regret wasting the gas now, I definitely will be happy I went and saw these engines in years to come. Some really, really good and rare catches.
