Description:  The power for M781 is tied down on the old N.C.& St.L. Columbia Branch trackage at Lewisburg. This line originally ran from a connection with the N.C.&St.L. at Decherd, TN to Columbia, TN. The section between Columbia and Lewisburg was abandoned in 1945 while the section between Decherd and Fayetteville hung on until the mid-80's. CSX uses the remaining few miles to serve the Berry Plastics facility on the east side of Lewisburg.

This is one of two instances of competition amongst rivals in North Alabama, the other being the shared trackage between Stevenson, AL and Wauhatchie, TN.

Spring Hill is the crew base for the Nashville Sub, with a daily turn being run to the Tennessee Southern interchange at Godwin and to Radnor Yard in Nashville. Another crew usually works the GM Plant at Spring Hill (the main traffic source on the line), however it has been furloughed due to Covid-19.
