T006 is three units and one tank car, T004R is two units and one tank car |
Description: |
T6 (in radio shorthand), the train from Madison, will set out their tank car on the UP interchange before calling it a day. T4R is switching the refrigerated argon tankers that are transloaded in the old coach yard. I found this odd because their usual task is to get on board the train from Horicon (T4) and take it on to Chicago. What they did next was even stranger... |

Freshly painted WAMX 4196 still in the same spot as last week |
Description: |
Why do I never get light like this on the leader of a train that's actually moving? Wish they'd hurry up and paint the SD60Ms so I could catch matching sets of red and gray again. |

UP 1025 follows a gondola, three boxcars and sister 1145 toward Five Points and the UP yard |
Description: |
The UP's Anderson Spur is a stub of the ex-C&NW line which once ran north to Fond du Lac, abandoned beyond the 3 or 4 customers they serve near the US Highway 14 crossing. Another, larger section still exists from Fort Atkinson to Clyman Junction. Circa 2007-08 when I first took up railfanning, they shoved out with an ex-C&NW bay window caboose in the lead to work the spurs which are all trailing point to the south (RR east). It wasn't long after that they started putting a locomotive on each end instead. |

T003 air-tests in the yard for a dusk departure |

I'd also caught T004 on this day which was led by one of the old WSOR SD40-2s (like the second unit here), but got video only as my DSLR's battery turned up dead and the shutter "button" on my phone's touchscreen failed to respond to my gloved finger. |

Per usual...the WSOR power I'm particularly interested in catching is parked when I go trackside on the railroad. If I catch a train moving it's almost always the same two (4171 or 4173) or a p***brick SD60M leading. |

WAMX 4196 would appear to once again be a long-term resident |
Description: |
It was in the exact same spot when I was in Janesville five days earlier. Shortly after being painted in the fall of 2021, it sat (facing west) on the end of the fuel ramp at the south side of the roundhouse for several months. It was in service for a few months in the spring/summer of this year (of course I never caught it) but would seem to once again be parked. |

Even when I catch WSOR trains moving in Janesville, they're still led by Armour Yellow |
Description: |
I think this was T006 based on the boxcars up front, but it could be some mishmash of T004 and T006 since with how much switching they do at Milton and at the Rotamer siding, it's rare for any consist that gets yarded at Janesville to remotely resemble what left Madison and Horicon earlier that day. |

Actually, don't. As well as this SD60M's patched UP paint matches the fall colors, I'd much rather it and its trailing sister be in a fresh coat of red and gray after a year and a half on the railroad. |

I believe this is the only one of the group of ex-UP SD60Ms on the WSOR with the full "Wings & Flags" treatment. 6022-23 have already been repainted, although unfortunately into a heavily modified version of the red and gray scheme that is not what I had been hoping for. |
